IT camp to aid Islamic terror in Bangalore

Bangalore: The State intelligence has uncovered a IT camp that is held for the purpose of facilitating Islamic terrorists with the latest in cyber technology.
Several software professionals in the city – who are in favour of jehad – are hosting IT camps in the city to arm terrorists with the technical know-how to further the cause of jehad.
The camp has been named similar to the SIMI model. The participants in the camp meet every Tuesday or Wednesday. This is just an instance where the jehadis are converting unsuspecting Muslims into terrorists. The software extension is a means to terror in this age of rapid technological progress.
The State intelligence has confirmed that this IT camp of the jehadis is designed to include the cream of educated Muslims into its fold. If it were just software, it would not have been problem. However, the target of this IT camp is to facilitate jehad. The aim of this camp is negative and aimed disruptive works.
Worldwide membership: Employees of software companies, techno-savvy Muslim kids and other employees of call centres are included as members in this camp. Similar such camps are held in Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Gulf countries.
Training for namesake: This IT camp was in operation in Karnataka since six months. However, it took time to set up a strong base. Through the innocuous scheme of providing IT education, efforts were on to indoctrinate educated Muslim youths. The ulterior motive is to convert the techno-savvy Muslim kids into jehad by slowly diverting their interests after understanding them and befriending them.
After converting the minds of the camp participants, the real process begins. The real work is to receive e-mails from the leaders of the terrorist organizations, carrying out the instructions given in the e-mails besides relaying the message to the local leaders. This forms the main focus of the IT camp.
Besides the organizers of the camp have gone forward one step forward to increase membership and strengthen the foundations. Already the camp has succeeded in netting several IT experts in its fold. Though efforts are on to make it a mainstream IT camp, there are also hurdles in its way, according to sources in the Intelligence Department.
In Malnad and Coastal Karnataka too: It has also gained speed in the regions of coastal Karnataka and Malnad. The CD confiscated from Kafeel (in the Glasgow bombing at London) also contains references to this IT camp. Reports of ISI funding for this project have also come to light. This IT Employees meet had come into existence following a mammoth function held at Bangalore only a year ago. Now it has extended its tentacles to several parts of the state and the State intelligence is getting on its tail. Bangalore, Karwar, Udupi, Mangalore, Chikmagalur are covered as it contains members from those cities. After the banning of SIMI, several SIMI members have gotten into this organization in a big way. It has facilitated communication between them and their foreign counterparts.
Most of the members of this group are from Kerala. Their efforts are to create a formidable network throughout. This IT camp organizes itself in the name of harmony. After the police raided the office of Kafeel and his friend, more information trickled in about this group.

Pakistani flags in Karnataka woods surrounded by religious shrines

KALGHATGI (DHARWAD): Terrorist training camps may be closer to home than the distant mountains in Pakistan.
This chilling evidence came to light during the interrogation of three Islamist radicals arrested recently - Riyazuddin Nasir alias Mohammed Ghouse, Asadullah Abu Bakar and Mohammed Asif.
The investigators have unearthed a thick forest area bordering Dharwad and Uttara Kannada districts of Karnataka, which was used to train terrorists in the use of firearms. The three youths arrested by anti-terror police in Hubli and Davanagere a fortnight ago allegedly received weapons training in these woods which are surrounded by religious shrines.
Sources said this could well be the first time that a terrorist camp used by self-proclaimed Islamist fundamentalists has been detected in southern India, where a spate of terror attacks in the last few years, such as the ones in Hyderabad's Mecca mosque and the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, have sensitized police to Islamist terrorism. It exposes a serious chink in the country's intelligence armour but also opens the door to getting answers on why and how Bangalore engineer Kafeel Ahmed transformed into the Glasgow bomber and his brother, Dr Sabeel Ahmed, joined in the UK terror plot.
Investigations led by DSP S V D'Souza revealed that the radicals were taking camping trips to the woods for "initial training as terrorists". During a raid, the officials noticed Pakistani flags flying and had them removed.
The details of the camp have been passed on to Central intelligence agencies. "The existence of the camp and the fact that the likes of prime suspect Mohammed Ghouse allegedly worked for a terror organization in Pakistan through intermediaries is of vital importance for intelligence agencies," an investigating official said.
Not only does it prove that the terrorist network is wider in southern India than imagined, it also establishes links between various terror attacks across the country, including the sensational strikes at IISc in Bangalore, Ajmer and Mecca Masjid of Hyderabad.
Given the sensitivity of the matter, the police are keeping investigation details a secret. Sources said that investigators have spent the last few days trying to establish who was running the camp and who were the men being trained. They are also trying to establish the operation for which these people were being trained.
A local police officer said the three accused revealed that they had established base in Kalghatgi and were preparing for a jihadi strike. Ghouse and his accomplice Abu Bakar frequently visited Kalghatgi along with Asif, a MBBS student. Here they met about 20 young radicals who were being taught the use of small arms and double barrel guns.

Hubli is hub of terror in south

The arrest of a Pakistan-trained suspected hard-core terrorist recently by Karnataka Police at Davanagere has brought to light the fact that the terrorist menace has spread its tentacles to the backward northern Karnataka region.
The police believe that Mohamed Ghouse(23) alias Riazuddin Naser, hailing from Hyderabad, the south India commander of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba, had started recruiting students doing professional studies around Hubli city, to set off explosions in the region.
Though a section of the electronic media has gone to town with the claim that the Lashkar boys had set up a terror training camp in the wooded areas of Dharwad district, there is hardly any tell-tell signs to prove the claim that they had used real bullets for target practice.
Ghouse had befriended Asadullah Abubakar, a final year student of ayurvedic medicine at Hubli and the duo had stolen motorcycles that the police believe were meant to set off explosions.
The duo had befriended Mohamed Asif, a final year medical student of Hubli, who was arrested by the police while riding a motorcycle stolen from Davanagere and recovered from him photographs of Assadullah and Mohamed Ghouse.
Ghouse reportedly told the interrogators that he was upset after his father Maulana Naseeruddin was arrested and jailed for the killing of former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya.
Ghouse and Assadullah are now in police custody at Davanagere and they are being quizzed by Central and State agencies, including IB, CBI, Gujarat and Andhra police.
According to reports, Ghouse was deeply influenced by the Al-Qaeda attack on the American World Trade Centre and wanted to take revenge on the US for attacking Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq.
During his stay in Jeddah, Ghouse met terrorist Shahid Bilala's brother Abdul Samad, and with the latter's help went to Pakistan where he was trained in the use of firearms and explosives, including the use of Uzi, the firearm manufactured in Israel.
Based on the information provided by the medical student Asif, the police have rounded up three more medical students from Bellary, Gulbarga and Hubli.
Meanwhile, a Corps of Detectives team from Bangalore rushed to Hubli on Sunday to pursue the investigation.
With Ghouse proving a hard nut to crack, he is likely to be subjected to narco-analysis in Bangalore in the next couple of days.
The security agencies believe that some of the major installations like the Kaiga nuclear plant, Karwar naval port and a couple of irrigation dams could be in the scanner of the terrorist groups in northern Karnataka.

Plans for serial blasts in Bangalore, Goa foiled

THE BEST-LAID PLANS: Three men suspected of being LeT terrorists have been nabbed for planning blasts in Goa and Bangalore.
New Delhi: Three suspected terrorists arrested in Karnataka have told the police that they planned to set off explosions at important IT and tourist spots in Bangalore and Goa.
A team from the Corps of Detectives has taken over investigation of the case.
Police say Abu Bakar, one of the arrested, has admitted that the men were trained in making bombs and engineering blasts in crowded areas.
The team seized detonators, crude bombs made from easily available chemicals like ammonium nitrate, books and CDs in Hubli and Davangere.
CNN-IBN was given the confessional statement of the 22-year-old Abu Bakar in which he says that they were planning to set off blasts, perhaps even serial blasts, after January 30.
Bakar also said they were having target-practice with an air-gun in Kalghatgi forest.
His team had planned to steal bikes and put them in crowded places of religious importance for setting off the blasts.
The confession also stated that Abu Bakar and his two colleagues were supposed to get a consignment of TT pistols and 50 Kg of RX by the end of January.
Police say Nasir, another of the men, has admitted to knowing Abu Hamza, the man behind the attack on the Indian Institute of Science in 2005.
Police have asked for the men, who were arrested a fortnight back, to be subjected to a narco-analysis test on Sunday. They have doubts over the men being from the Lashkar-e-Taiba
